Roland A. “Ron” Rants

Founder & Chairman

Ron_newRon founded The Rants Group in 1973. His knowledge of the Thurston County Real Estate market comes from his many years of living and working in this community. Ron holds a Finance degree from the University of Washington (avid Husky Fan). Ron currently is involved in many community organizations including The Boys & Girls Club of Thurston County, which he is a founding board member, The Roundtable of Thurston County, which he co-founded (the Roundtable is a group of community leaders committed to improving the cultural and economic future of the capitol area). He also travels with the Medical Teams International and Mexican Medical Missions which provide medical and habitat assistance to third world countries. Ron has three children and six grandchildren.

Patrick C. Rants

President & CEO, Designated Broker, CCIM

Pat_newCommercial Real Estate Manager (CRB), Certified Property Manager, Commercial Leasing & Sales Broker.
Pat joined The Rants Group in 1988. He is currently the President and CEO. He develops, sells, leases and manages office, retail and industrial properties. He received his Business Administration/Finance degree from Central Washington University. Pat served as past President of The Rotary Club of Olympia and Chair of Community Youth Services. He is currently Board Chair of St. Martins University. Pat is married with three grown children.

Shelley Foltz

Commercial Leasing & Sales Managing Broker, CCIM

Shelley has extensive property management and brokerage experience and is a principal in The Rants Group.  She has represented numerous Landlords, Tenants, Sellers, and Buyers during her career in commercial real estate.  She attended the University of Washington and received her Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 2010.  She is the past President of West Olympia Rotary Club and serves as current chair of the Endowment Committee and served for three years on the board of the South Puget Sound Community College Foundation Board. Shelley is married and has two daughters.

Carolyn Graden

Carolyn has been with The Rants Group since 1989 and has been a licensed commercial real estate agent since 1996. Carolyn understands the intricacies of commercial real estate because of her broad experience in sales, leasing and property management. Carolyn graduated with a Business Administration/Marketing degree from Central Washington University.  She earned her Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 2010. She is past president of  the YWCA of Olympia, Olympia Host Lions Club and the Morningside Board of Trustees.  Carolyn is married to Tim Graden and loves to travel.

Lisa Barker

Lisa was a former Rants Group member from 2001 to 2007 during which time she managed both residential and commercial properties and was also involved in commercial sales and leasing. Lisa rejoined The Rants Group in 2009, bringing with her over 15 years of experience in the real estate industry. With The Rants Group she will be responsible for the professional management of all aspects of commercial properties and leasing and sales as well. Lisa has two children.

Teri Haglund

Since bringing her previous real estate experience to The Rants Group in 2004, Teri has gone on to complete her education and training with IREM and has received her designation as an ARM, Accredited Residential Manager. Teri’s commitment to customer service allows her to oversee more than 350 of The Rants Group exclusive to residential, single-family and multi-family homes. Some of her responsibilities include: acquisition of new properties in need of professional management, showing properties to prospective tenants, tenant screening, overseeing all financial aspects of her assigned properties as well as the sales of multi-family units. Darrell McQuiston

Darrell has been involved with residential sales and management of homes and vacant land for more than 20 years. He also managed apartment complexes and single family homes in the Seattle Metro Area. Since joining The Rants Group in 2009, Darrell’s management portfolio includes over 250 residential single family dwellings and multifamily properties located throughout Thurston County. He is also a Commercial Sales and Leasing Broker that manages and leases several commercial buildings.

Cameron Wilson

The newest member of The Rants Group, Cameron joined the firm in early 2015. Hailing from Las Vegas, NV, Cameron brings more than 13 years of commercial brokerage and property management experience to the team. Coming from one of the most volatile real estate markets in the nation, he has extensive skills in creative and aggressive marketing of commercial property for sale and lease. On the management side, by thinking “outside the box”, he has found success in keeping operating costs low, and occupancy rates high, resulting in superior performance of his client’s assets. Married to his high school sweetheart, Cameron enjoys spending his free time hiking, fishing, and exploring the outdoors with his dogs. cameron@rants-group.com

Vicky Leever

Account & Office Manager

Vicky_newVicky joined The Rants Group in 2001 as an accounting assistant and soon thereafter accepted the job of senior accountant. Vicky is responsible for all aspects of commercial/residential property management accounting. She also handles The Rants Group corporate and development accounting and financial reporting. In addition, Vicky handles all human resource and medical/dental benefit information and oversees the work of the support staff. Vicky has two children.

Pierina Olivari

Accounting Assistant

Pierina_newPierina joined The Rants Group in 2002. She is responsible for receipting rent payments, preparing deposits and all data entry for accounts payable and accounts receivable. She is responsible for the day to day bookkeeping for all of our property management accounts which includes both commercial and residential. Pierina graduated from South Puget Sound Community College (2003) with her Associate of Technical Arts degree in the Paralegal field. She is married to Luis Cobena and has four children.

Andrea_newAndrea supports our Residential division and is the Marketing Coordinator. Born and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, she became a resident of Washington State in 2008. Andrea joined The Rants Group in the summer of 2010 and is married to Chris Tawes.

Romy Hoppe joins The Rants Group as Receptionist and Administrative Support. She is a lifelong Washington State resident and has called Thurston County home for the last 23 years. She brings over 18 years experience in real estate administrative support and property management in the greater Olympia area. She has 3 grown children.

Doug Strand

Maintenance Supervisor

Doug_newDoug is head of our maintenance staff. He came to The Rants Group in 1997. His past maintenance experience included work at Panorama City Retirement Community and Tanglewilde Limited Partnership. He is also a First Sergeant retiree (1988) of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam in 1968-69. Doug provides maintenance service to both residential and commercial properties managed by The Rants Group. His diverse knowledge and experience provides a quick response for our tenants and a cost effective solution for our property owners. Doug is married to Carol Strand, has 5 children and 2 grandchildren.

Ed Byers

Maintenance

Ed is originally from California and brings 40+ years of experience to The Rants Group. Ed provides maintenance service to both residential and commercial properties managed by the Rants Group. He’s been married for 20+ year and has 2 grown sons (one son works for the State Patrol and the other son is a Firefighter).
